My general Medical training began in Caldas University in Manizales, Colombia. Caldas University has a Medical Program which has been for over 50 years, one of the most important in of the country, and has led Manizales to become one of the most important medical attention centers in the central part of the country.
This program has trained multiple generations who have maintained the University´s prestige inside and outside the country, a proper training according to the highest international standards in medical education and also adapted to a Colombian patients punctual needs.
Many graduate students currently live abroad, working in prestigious, important medical positions. This has made Colombia an attractive country for complete medical attention, with appealing prices for the rest of the world. Today, Manizales has two recognized medical programs.
Caldas province has a tradition in giving birth to brilliant Colombian ideologists, politicians and statesmen that have made the city a recognized cultural center. Its inhabitants are of Spanish origin, with a predominant Basque and Catalan majority.
My postgraduate studies were in Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, one of the only 2 latin universities ranked in the 500 most important in the world and with an important medical and engineering program. There, in Manuel Gea Gonzalez Hospital, lighthouse in Mexican public surgery, working in the shadow of well known doctors such as Dr. Ortiz Monasterio, maybe the most brilliant Mexican plastic surgeon in many generations.
My training in ear, nose and throat and plastic surgery, took place as well the following years, when I travelled to the United States (Jackson Memorial Hospital, Mangat Plastic Clinic Ohio, House Ear Institute in Los Angeles).
I became a member of Mexico´s ear, Nose and Throat Council, the same American Academies in Facial Plastic Surgery and Ear, Nose and Throat Academy. Equally, when returning to Colombia, I became a Member of Colombia´s Facial Plastic Surgery and Rhinology and Colombia´s ear, Nose and Throat Association. I am also a member of the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies.
I have been a teacher in Caldas Hospital with pre-graduate students, and also, a clinical semiology teacher with the Internal Medicine Program of Caldas University. A speaker in National and International conferences on Facial Plastic Surgery and a constant participant in the America Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and Rhinology.
